Why Water Damage & Flood Damage are Different

Contrary to popular belief, water damage and flood damage are two different insurance claims, and they even require different insurance policies Research says the state of California falls at #10 for states with the most flood damage and #1 for the most water damages in a state! That’s a lot of water damage. Simply put, the main difference between a flood claim and a water damage claim is where the water comes from. With flood damage, the water comes from a natural source. And under most policies flood damages are not considered water damage and standard insurances will not cover it. California might not be considered a state with much weather but you should consider looking into insurance coverage for both water damage and flood damage.
